Central Valleys
Rural Chile at its most authentic
About this destination
The central valleys between Santiago and the Bío Bío River are where rural Chilean culture is most alive. Towns like Rancagua, Talca and Chillán preserve a way of life tied to the land: huasos (Chilean cowboys) still ride to the rodeo, family-run fondas serve cazuela and empanadas, and thermal spring resorts dot the Andean foothills. It's a Chile few international visitors see — and all the richer for it. The campervan is perfectly suited to this kind of slow, curious exploration.
